Review of Winterreise Performance in Leeds (UK)

Opera Britannia’s Paul Dalton offers a review of Andrew Foster-Williams‘ and Christopher Gould’s recent performance of Winterreise which was performed along with some sort of visual projection by Mariele Neudecker. The review goes into very little detail, but I link to it here mostly as a record of the performance. If you know more about this performance, and especially about the projections, please leave a note in the comments.

What a horrendous dismissal of Mariele Neudecker’s work. ‘Some sort of Visual projection’ shows a remarkable lack of awareness and an equal ability to insult simultaneously. Surely any site seriously devoted to Schubert must be aware of Neudecker? Her films for Winterreise were made in 2003 and she has subsequently produced films on Mahler ’s Kindertotenlieder. As a contemporary British artist (German born) she has consistently worked to bring German Romanticism u to modern times, beginning with sculpture based on the paintings of Friedrich.
A quickly Google would have told you the basics of that, even the review you link to has some information so why did you need to dismiss this intriguing idea so off handedly?
